Tussafoten

From the parking lot of the Hardangervidda Nature Centre in Upper Eidfjord, this unusual mountain formation in clearly visible on the horizon to the northeast. Tussafoten (960 m.a.s.) is the remains of what used to be the Precambrian Basement. Much of the heavily fractured surrounding mountain has weathered away by frost shattering and has crumbled off the edge of the mountain and down into the talus scree in Gjuvedalen.
