Eio

The Eidfjord waterway is stocked with salmon as far as the Tveitafossen waterfall in Bjoreio, and also part of the way up the Veig. Eio was hit hard by dwindling salmon populations, to such a degree that wild salmon has been protected in the river since 2000. In contrast, the number of sea trout has taken up again. The total catch in the river in 2000 was 128 kg of wild salmon (let go again afterwards), 199 kg of aquaculture salmon and 879 kg of sea trout.
